Last week Youth Board member, Amelia, had a wonderful opportunity to share her role in participating in the development of the Youth Policy Paper at Stockholm +50 to industry leaders at the Port Hedland Industries Council in Western Australia.
As Amelia is currently based in Europe on a school scholarship program, she has been able to attend in person youth events organised by the United Nations Environment Program and 1 Million Youth Actions Project.
“ It was a wonderful opportunity to represent Millennium Kids and Australia by attending the event in Geneva. To share ideas about the transition to a clean green economy, meet with other young environmental advocates and craft a document to be shared around the world.
Presenting at the Port Hedland Industry Council, online from Germany, was the first time I presented to industry representatives. I think it is invaluable for people, decision makers to hear what young people think. It is after all the young people who will inherit the decisions of today.”
Check out my presentation Youth Policy Report (1). It talks about Millennium Kids, how we work, my role at Stockholm +50 and our hopes we a youth led climate education program The Agents of Climate Change.
Big thanks to Kirsty and Isobel for inviting Millennium Kids to present. We encourage other young people to give it ago when opportunities like this arise.
