2022 was about building on project initiatives. We continued our Green Lab work with schools to protect, monitor and increase canopy to cool our cities, but we also put lots of energy into kids’ concerns about the lack of climate change action.

We were super stoked that Cat, Bell and Amelia presented at the the Making Hope Practical Education and Health Standing Committee Report 2, Report of the inquiry into the response of Western Australian schools to climate change. Our young people have been running climate education programs for the past 2 years to ensure young people are educated about climate change and are included in discussions around future proofing our region, so our team were super excited to read the recently released report. The report was presented to WA Parliament by Mr C.J. Tallentire, MLA, June 2022.

Amelia based herself in Europe in 2022 and attended various global think tanks around climate change. She participated in the development of the Stockholm +50 Global Youth Policy Paper where young people crafted the Youth Policy Paper at Stockholm+50 Check out the Global Youth Policy Paper here and have your say.

In July Amelia also presented to Port Hedland Industries Council on the story of Millennium Kids concerns about climate change. Check out her presentation here.

And locally we started working on the next stages of our climate education and action program with Youth Board Co President Bella Poll talking about citizen’s assemblies at TedXKingsPark Check out her talk here.

And with funding support we trialled our youth led Agents of Climate Change program in the Shire of Mundaring thanks to support from the US Government.
