Miss James and student volunteers have been hard at work over the last few years, working together to bring the bushland back to life. In 2020 eight students worked with a guide from Millennium Kids to start the Green Lab project, with a vision to help look after the bushland and inspire others to do the same.  Since 2021 they received money and plants from Melville City Council (Project Robin Hood grant and community plants), Plantrite and Planet Ark Seedling Bank. After paying for some help to clear the bushland of weeds and invasive plants, and branches in over grown areas many students have volunteered their lunch times to revegetate the area with seedlings of native plants that once grew in the area. We are excited to see a healthy, diverse environment flourish and encourage all students and the community to appreciate this natural wonder and learn to care for our bushland.

This year’s projects have included ways to attract people to engage with our bushland.

1.Redesigning the old scoreboard with student artwork and the environmental messages

2. Engaging local artist Olive Young to paint the pathways with native animals and plants

3. Continuing planting program with native seedlings

4. All students engaged in the Hut Building Experience with their buddy classes

We look forward to seeing more and more people connecting with our very special piece of nature.
