Millennium Kids and the City of Stirling have collaborated on a new program, Living Green, to support schools develop sustainability education programs. Millennium Kids facilitators lead the students through a ‘skills for life’ process with young people listing the big issues and developing a local strategy to address them. Students have listed the big issues as climate change, waste, loss of tree canopy and care for native animals.
- Dianella Secondary College students are keen to tackle waste within their school and some students want to develop a care program for their local bushland.
- Lake Gwelup Primary School students have a range of program ideas including better waste management, care for local wetlands and wildlife.
- Churchlands Primary School will focus on reducing energy consumption.
All projects developed will come under the One Thousand Actions for the Planet banner and will be reported to UN Sustainable Development Goals website.
