How to become a mentor
Become a Mentor of one of our many Millennium Kids teams or individuals and support their project and help make it fly.
Mentoring is a really important part of the Millennium Kids process. Kids seek feedback from a range of mentors to ensure their project gets off the ground. We are looking for big kids, little kids and kids at heart to meet with our young people.
Mentoring can be as simple as donating an hour of time to join us at a Speed Mentoring session at one of our school-based workshops or spend a little longer with a team developing an innovation that will change our world.
Millennium Kids mentors do the following
- Support young people through an ongoing relationship
- Serve as a positive role model and friend
- Build the relationship by planning and participating in activities together
- Have fun
People interested in mentoring must undergo the following screening process:
- Participating in a one-to-one interview
- Undergoing a Police Check and reference checks
- Obtaining a Working with Children Check
To ensure the best outcomes for our young people, you are required to be:
- At least 21 years of age at the commencement of service

“Hi, my name is Isabella. I am a Millennium Kids mentor. I am an Architect student at UWA. I have been involved with Millennium Kids since I was a Kid. Now I help Kids plan their projects, ask stretchy questions and give them project feedback. I helped the Edulis team think about their logo design. Edulis are developing an edible cutlery brand. I also love going on the Kids on Country program to listen to the Coolgardie Kids and help make their projects real.”
