22nd and 23rd September 2008
Perth, Western Australia
An extraordinary event for students and teachers from across Western Australia.
What - The Western Australia Youth Environment Conference is the culmination of a process. Students prepare 40 minute workshops to present to their peers at the conference on an environmental topic, relevant to their local area. This process involves students working with expert mentors many months prior to the event, and results in children who are motivated, capable public speakers, with self esteem and respect for others. Ultimately, this conference is about protecting and enhancing our natural environment, communities and industries through education and involvement of the next generation of leaders.
Who - All primary and secondary schools (grades 5 to year 11) are invited to register.
We also seek supporters, mentors, and volunteers to assist at the conference.
Details - Conference costs AUD$55 (incl. GST) for each student and teacher to attend. This includes all meals and transport within the conference program time, online support for presenting schools, conference entertainment and entry to the entire 2-day program. Maximum registration numbers for each school are 3 teachers and 15 students. NOTE: There are only 16 presentation places available at this event - so get in early and register to present as soon as possible.
